This is me after a 10k in February 2014 where I set a PB. I was very pleased, but tired.
I am 35 and live in Yorkshire.
I started running when I was 22 and found it incredibly difficult, but very rewarding and addictive. My first race was the Silverstone Half Marathon. I’m not sure why I decided to make my first race a half marathon, but I did and loved it. I got round in two hours and four minutes, and rewarded myself with sticky toffee pudding and custard.
That was just the start. Running, racing and fitness quickly became, and still are, a huge part of my life. I trained as a fitness instructor and also wrote articles for running and fitness magazines. I’ve taken part in lots of races and have also recently completed the England Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness course.
My current challenge is to set personal bests at all distances from 5k to marathon. I’ve called it the Not Yet A Vet Challenge because I’m in denial about becoming a veteran runner.
