Hello! My name is Liz Champion and I love running and helping runners of all ages and abilities make their fitness ambitions a reality.
How did running become my life?
I wasn’t always a runner. I was the fat kid who did everything possible to avoid PE at school. I was always asking my mum to write notes to get me out of games. I just wasn’t a runner. No. Definitely not. Running wasn’t for me.
Then in 2001, my friend asked me to join him on a run. I said no. Of course I said no! But he kept nagging and nagging and nagging, and eventually just to stop the nagging, I agreed to try a run.
Aged 22, I couldn’t even make it to the end of the road without having to stop and gasp for breath. My legs hurt, my lungs were burning. It was awful. But because I am stubborn, I kept on going, jogging and walking my way around London’s Victoria Dock. And somewhere on the way, the running bug jumped up and bit me.
I have loved running ever since.
Running changed my life
Over the years, I’ve taken part in races from 3000m to marathon distance. Despite being hapless at sport as a child, I’ve won medals at county level and I’m currently chasing England Masters selection for 10k and half marathon distances.
I’m a qualified UK Athletics coach in running fitness and fitness instructor. I have qualifications in studio cycling, exercise to music, nutrition and weight management, and massage.
When I’m not coaching or running, I’ll usually be found writing about running, health or fitness.
I love working with runners of all ages and abilities to help them achieve their running and fitness goals.
And I’d like to help you achieve your running goals, too.
