If you’re looking for a fast and flat route with a great atmosphere in a beautiful city, then look no further than the Edinburgh Marathon. The race is part of a festival of running with events from 5k to the full marathon. And if you weren’t successful in getting a London Marathon place, there’s guaranteed entry for you in Edinburgh.
You’ll start in the centre of Edinburgh before heading out towards Musselburgh. It’s one of the biggest marathons in the UK after London. And with a descent of almost 90 metres is one of the fastest marathon routes.

If you’re looking for a fun marathon with a great atmosphere, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Liverpool Marathon is ideal. With more than 30 live bands on the route, there’s definitely a party-atmosphere. The race takes in the city’s sights along the Mersey, finishing with a party at the Albert Dock.
