It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

IT’S been a festive few days at work. First it was the Santa Dash and then, yesterday, the Secret Santa.

notebookMy secret Santa discovered I like running and writing, so bought a notebook and, using calligraphy, wrote the name of my blog on the front. I think it looks great. I love a good notebook so I was very happy. In the office, the Quality Streets are in full flow too – the purple, chocolate toffee, and round penny are my favourites, but I’ll not say no to any of them.

The Santa Dash 5km was good fun. I’ve not been doing much training so wanted to use the Dash to assess my current fitness or lack of it. I finished second overall and first woman in 20.18 and was awarded a nice bottle that I’m saving for Christmas. The race was slightly under 5km but it was mountainous and involved a long wait for the green man while crossing the road so I was pleased with my time, even though it felt absolutely horrible because of the aforementioned lack of training.

There were about twenty of us running, dressed as Santa, elves and even a fairy. I went for a Merry Christmas top, complete with a tinsel necklace that kept getting tighter and tighter, and a Santa Hat. There’s a video of the start here. I love the little hop from my colleague at the back.

Last weekend, we were in Edinburgh. It was great strolling around the Christmas market and catching up with friends over a few glasses of Prosecco. We didn’t run (it was minus seven) but we did walk for miles and miles. I love Edinburgh, especially at Christmas.

Then, the other evening, Chris and I decided to brave Meadowhall and do all of our Christmas shopping in one night. We are not shoppers. We hate shopping, but we did it. Meadowhall was conquered!

It’s been a great few days. It’s certainly beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.
